YouTuber Dan TDM chooses BBX as Head of Video Production for Global Theatre Tour
Client Vision
Professional gamer, author and Youtuber Dan TDM was on a mission to do a Worldwide Theatre tour to meet and interact with some of his 26.3m subscribers and add to his 19 billion video views. The online sensation wanted to appear in Apollo theatre in the UK, Dolby Theatre & Beacon theatre in US and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
His team required a go-to production company who could offer pre-production, system spec, rigging & operating for every show in each location.
Solution
BBX Media met with Dan’s team and discussed the various elements of their vision & goals in order to define what production kit & crew would be required to bring it into a phenomenal reality.
We identified the multimedia requirements to meet on & off stage criteria, including live games, dance competitions, and Dan’s interactions with animated video character ‘Melbot’ in a timed sequence. Impeccable production & video control was fundamental to the show running well & keeping Dan’s reputation intact.
We also pre-produced the entire show ahead of time, in VR, empowering the client with the ability to rehearse in the closest-to-show-scenario possible. This enabled him to have full confidence in the production around and behind him while he performed in front of live audiences.
Pre-production also allowed for artistic changes to be made to enhance creative use of the screen & stage set up. This reduced any changes made on site which could cause nerve-wracking delays on a tight schedule.
In each theatre, BBX set up temporary studios, galleries and control rooms in ways that were efficient to de-rig, pack up and tour in the next location, sometimes as soon as 24 hours later.

Results
With a fantastic client vision and BBX’s knowledge, premium kit and strategic partnerships, we proudly video managed one of the most remarkable global tours.
Due to the huge success of his Theatre tour, Dan TDM went on to do another tour just for the UK and employed BBX to be Head of Video again.
This meant pre-production (organising kit suppliers, crew and liaising with content creators), system spec & design plus rigging & operating for each show.
To give an idea of scale, the UK tour production from BBX used three 40ft artic trucks, two crew tour buses and a team of six – one operator to run the games for the show, two camera operators, two LED screen engineers and one content manager to manage voting results from the app.
The entire tour is now available on YouTube, so check it out now!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xiqtm_TSx34&t=2051s
Client Reaction
“Our event AV Experience really shone in this environment, we were able to deliver firstly, but also give full confidence to our client as what may seem complex and logistically problematic, was second nature to us. The trust and relationship required between a performer to front of house operatives especially when interacting with content on a screen such as an animated character, is imperative – myself and the specially selected operatives on the BBX team were in tune with every cue and perspective of Dan TDM while he performed.”
